Nancy Paul

Our first encounter with Suffolk singer and songwriter Nancy Paul left us, like the rest of the audience, breathless at her performance. She has that rare ability, an art that cannot be taught, of being able to communicate real emotion through her singing. Whether singing standards made famous by artists ranging from Billie Holliday to Etta James, modern classics from the likes of Springfield and Lennox, or with her own more pop-based material, Nancy delivers every song with clarity, sincerity and world-class technique. She is a consummate interpreter of the blues, bringing her own edge to familiar songs with her wide-ranging, unique voice.

Nancy has a background in theatre, and having played lead roles in productions of Chicago and Cabaret is very confident on stage, projecting her warm, approachable personality as well as bringing believability to the performance. She regularly performs around Suffolk with a small jazz and blues ensemble, Speakeasy.

Nancy has collaborated recently with other writers, including Isa Summers of Florence and the Machine. She is just about to embark on an artist development programme with publisher Purple Music (Suffolk) LLP, and is set to release her first single on the Purple Moments label in Spring 2012.
